Karate referee gestures

Karate referee gestures:

Karate kumite competition is taken by Referee, Judges, Arbitrator, Scorer and Time keeper. The Referee has the main role in the competition. He will give points in gestures and japanease language. I have given some important gestures with explanations to show the karatekas. The place in which kumite competition take place is Bout. Bout is in 8 Square meters. The safety area 2 meter, is also made around the bout. Kumite participants are divided into two groups namely Aka and Shiro. Thease groups will be in 1.5 meter away from the Bout center point. Referee will stand 2 meter away from center point. Red belt will be given to Aka and White belt will be given to Shiro. Aka will be in right side to the referee and Shiro will be in left side.

Moto no ichi : Referee's original position.

Shomen ni rei : This word announces to Bow.

Otagai ni rei : Competitors will bow among themselves by this word.

Shobu Hajime : Starting the match.

Yame : Stop the match.

Starting to score points : Referee brings his hand like this to give points for Ippon, Nihon or Sanbon. Referee brings his left hand like this to Shiro.

 

Ippon(1 Point) : He keep his hand in 45° to give one point. (Eg:(If Aka scored) He announces "Aka" "Tell the movements by which aka got points" "ippon".


Nihon(2 Points) : He will raise his hand to the level of shoulder to give two points.

Sanbon(3 Points) : He keep his hand above 45° from the shoulder to give Three points.

Starting to Tsuzukite Hajime : Referee will bring his hand like this to tell Tsuzukite Hajime.

Tsuzukite hajime : He will stop the match by saying " Yame" and He will start again by saying "Tsuzukite Hajime".


No Kachi : This word expresses winning. If Shiro wins he will raise his left hand.

Jogai : If competitor went away from the bout during fight referee will announce Jogai by keeping his index finger in 45°. Referee shows his left hand like this to Shiro.

 

Chukoku : Warning only. Referee shows his hand like this after show his cross hand gesture in competitor side(Competitor who got warning). Referee shows his left hand like this to Shiro.

 

Keikoku : Ippon penalty. Referee will announce keikoku by keeping his index finger in 45° downward. Opponent will get One point. Referee shows his left hand like this to Shiro.

 

Hansoku chui : Nihon penalty. Referee will announce Hansoku chui by keeping his index finger in shoulder level. Opponent will get Two point. Referee shows his left hand like this to Shiro.

 

Hansoku : Disqualification. Referee will announce Hansoku by keeping his index finger above 45° from the shoulder level. Then Referee announces win for opponent. Referee shows his left hand like this to Shiro.

 

Shikkaku : Serious disqualification. Then Referee announces win for opponent. You may be disqualification for this tournament.


Starting to Hikiwake : Referee will bring his hand like this to tell Hikiwake.

Hikiwake : Match draw.

Aiuchi : Simultaneous score technics. No point is awarded to two competitors.
